Are you looking to understand how to control your roaming experience when using your Samsung A900 Sprint-powered cell phone? Roaming is essentially the ability to either take or make phone calls on your cell phone even when you are not within your parent network, which in this case is the Sprint PCS Network. The Samsung A900 phone is capable of working on all Sprint PCS networks all across the country, as well as other networks like 800 Mhz and 1900 Mhz that Sprint PCS has exclusive roaming arrangements with.

Understanding how Roaming works – Whenever you are roaming, no matter which network you are in, your phone is going to indicate your roaming status if you are not in your home network. It does this by displaying a small R icon on the display screen. The quality will be about as good for making and receiving calls as it would be in your home network if you are roaming in a digital quality network, but sometimes Sprint PCS features are disabled when you are roaming.

Using Voicemail while Roaming – When you are roaming, you will periodically need to check for new voice mail messages on your phone, because you will not instantly receive your messages like you would when in your home network. This does not hinder sending or receiving voice mail at all for either person. To check your voice messages while roaming, you need to type in the number ‘1’, followed by your area code and phone number. When your voice mail greeting begins to play, you will be prompted for your password. Voicemail notifications will resume as normal as soon as you have returned once again to your home network.

Setting your Roam Mode on your Phone – Roaming capabilities for your cell phone as well as the settings for your cell phone can all be controlled by using the SET MODE option which is available in your ROAMING menu. There are three different options that you can set from this menu.

- Automatic. This will make sure that your cell phone chooses a Sprint PCS Network as your primary network. In the absence of a Sprint PCS Network, your cell phone will choose an alternate network.

- Roaming Only. This option will allow your phone to remain in roaming mode at all times.

- Sprint. This tells your phone only to use Sprint networks no matter where in the country that you are, disallowing it from using any other network in the area.
